Nonpoint Interview w/ Elias Soriano

nonpointInterview from the Nonpoint bus on June 22nd, 2014 at Rock The Yard in Kernersville, NC. Bucked Up Super Saloon. Check it out after the jump!

Q: So what got you into the music business?
A: I was friends with a couple of musicians in the scene down in South Florida and they invited me to come jam with them, actually heard my voice in a restaurant singing “Happy Birthday” and they thought I had a voice. So I went to a practice with them, one thing led to another, and we became a band.

Q: That’s awesome! What was the first album you bought with your own money?
A: I really can’t remember the FIRST album I ever bought, but the first rock record I ever bought, I think, was Metallica, …And Justice For All. I think that was the first full length rock record that I ever bought.

Q: What’s your favorite city to play? Not necessarily venue, but just overall city?
A: I like Madison, Wisconsin. It’s a great town and the radio station there is really supportive. I like Vegas, the town’s cool. I like playing there. The hospitality is always good, and the venues there are always really nice.

Q: Everyone loves Vegas! One question I always have to ask any band I meet is what the best concert they’ve ever attended was?
A: Best show I’ve ever attended? I would have to say Prince. Yeah, he was PHENOMENAL. Probably the best beginning to end show. Him and Billy Joel (laughs). Those guys, they sell millions of records, and for a reason. So yeah, both really good shows.

Q: What is one thing you have to say to a fan who has never seen you before?
A:  We move around quite a bit on stage. We definitely take pride in our live show and we’re very energetic so really enjoy doing live shows, so if you want to get to know us. that’s the best way to do it is to come out to a show.

Q: What are the plans for the rest of the year for Nonpoint?
A: We have touring in September and October, take a few weeks off until after Christmas, maybe do a New Years Eve show, and keep cycling. Record comes out September 30th, so that’s going to be sweet, we’ll be supporting that for probably the next 12-18 months.

Go pick up their latest album “Nonpoint” with their hit single “That Day.” Also make sure to pick up a copy of their newest album when it drops on September 30th!
