Metalcore Mario Kart? NinDjent0 has a full album of it:

It’s time yet again for a retro game to get a heavy rendition courtesy of NinDjent0. Since I last wrote about this artist almost a year ago to the day, they’ve released a Sonic The Hedgehog album AND a Legend of Zelda album; now, it’s time for Mario Kart 64 to get the treatment.

The legendary racing game has a bangin’ soundtrack, and NinDjent0 captures the nostalgia in their signature style full of blast beats, discordant riffs, and polished production. I’ve been watching them work on the album via their Twitch, which has been insightful on how tracks like this get made with so many layers to consider.

NinDjent0 tackles the best songs Mario Kart 64 has to offer, including Koopa Troopa Beach, Frappe Snowland, and the mainstay Rainbow Road. It’s a blistering 28-minute listen with each piece getting an equal amount of love and care sounding like some of the genre’s best within the scope of a cover song.

Anyone who grew up with this game, or Nintendo 64 games in general, will have a blast checking out this massively-underrated artist. Listen to the album below!
