Compared to their peers in Killswitch Engage and even Shadows Fall, God Forbid got the short end of the stick when it comes to the early-2000s wave of metalcore bands who experienced popularity. That’s not to say the band didn’t have any success (they had quite a bit), and records like Gone Forever and IV: Constitution Of Treason are still beloved to this day. They are a fan favorite for a reason, and played a large part in helping make the genre what it is today.
The band has been more or less nonexistent for many years now, as Doc Coyle’s a part of Bad Wolves, but the band is now officially BACK in some capacity, with at least one live performance scheduled later this year at Blue Ridge Rock Fest. Given the rapturous welcome back the band received all over social media, it’s safe to say that there is a heavy demand for God Forbid to play more than just one show. While it’s unknown if the band will put out some kind of new music or even a new album, it’s great to see a metalcore mainstay make a comeback. In fact, their appearance at the festival (which does indeed have a strong demographic of younger members as well) might just introduce the band to a new generation. Here’s hoping.
I wasn’t sure that this would ever happen but I can’t tell you how psyched I am to announce that God Forbid is reuniting to play this years @BlueRidgeRock These are my brothers and I can’t wait to share this with the fans who’ve been waiting. pic.twitter.com/IaMPt8FhMo
