Modern Empire Records metalcore band Dead Crown issued a statement in regards to their newest single “No Remorse”. The song’s lyrics almost immediately struck a nerve with many fans in the music community, and the lyrics appear to encourage suicidal behavior. In fact, a closer look reveals it’s pretty cut and dry what the band is addressing.
The band claims the lyrics and song were for “shock value”, but they’re promptly getting torched for it on Twitter and social media in general. The lyrics, however, tell another story – they’re apparently in response to the band’s drummer’s domestic violence allegations that emerged recently, corroborated by multiple parties. They’re also on tour with Attila right now.
The fact that @DeadCrownBand's response to a member being accused of domestic violence is to release a song with lyrics that OPENLY ENCOURAGE SUICIDE is disgusting. I hope you rot. https://t.co/8ZMlqTIJlV

In fact, Dying Wish vocalist Emma Boster called the band out for not addressing it, noting that it was the first song the band has released after those allegations came out.
Hey @DeadCrownBand these lyrics in response to your drummer being called out for domestic violence towards women are absolutely fucking unacceptable. To say I’m disappointed is a severe understatement. Disgusting pic.twitter.com/dcAEcSnKac

For a band that wrote edgy lyrics for “shock value”, it’s also telling that they blocked all replies on Twitter – but plenty of people have quoted said Tweet. In fact, it appears the band is blocking anyone who is holding them accountable. Dead Crown claims the lyrics had “nothing to do with any specific person”, but not many people are exactly defending them. There’s obviously a lot to this story.
