While they’re celebrating the 20th anniversary of their album Leviathan with a huge tour to support it, Mastodon has been hard at work on some new music as well. Having not released an album since 2021’s Hushed & Grim, it’s about that time anyway.
Not that they particularly have anything to prove at this point. One of a handful of bands to help bring a sludgier style of metal to a more mainstream audience, Leviathan helped bring them an increasingly larger audience in 2004, and subsequent albums like Crack The Skye were so successful that they eventually scored a handful of Grammy nominations – and even a win for their song “Sultan’s Curse”. Really impressive resume, to be honest. But if one thing is clear, it’s that Mastodon aren’t a band to rest on their laurels. Stay tuned.
