It is with a shocked and heavy heart that we report to you that rock visionary David Bowie has passed away at the age of 69 after an 18 month battle with cancer. He just released a well-received new album, Blackstar, 2 days before his death – a truly incredible feat, now that we know he recorded it while having cancer.

Bowie had just celebrated his 69th birthday two days ago on January 8th with the release of his highly anticipated album Blackstar, which quickly achieved near universal acclaim from critics and fans alike. He released twenty-five studio albums in his lifetime, along with multiple film and Broadway roles. Most notably in film, he played the king of the goblins Jareth in the cult classic Labyrinth.
