Limp Bizkit just played in front of 100k people in Argentina – and now their iconic song “Break Stuff” is going viral

There was a time in October 2000 where, it could be argued, that Limp Bizkit was one of the biggest bands on the planet. Their third album Chocolate Starfish… had sold over a million copies in its first week of release, becoming one of a few dozen to reach that status. Released the week before Linkin Park’s debut Hybrid Theory also proceeded to storm the globe with more longevity, Limp Bizkit’s popularity was such that Fred Durst was rubbing elbows with the likes of Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears, while their singles continued to climb the charts. A fallow period followed in the years to come, of course, but make no mistake – the band’s live show did not have difficulty drawing large crowds regardless of record sales or critical response.

With the band’s revival of popularity experienced during the last years due to a critical reappraisal of their discography, they’ve experienced a major spike in popularity this decade. Given the prevalence and increasing popularity of music streaming services, a new generation of fans have discovered them as well – many of which may not have even been born when songs like “Break Stuff” and “Rollin'” were tearing up the airwaves. Speaking of “Break Stuff”, the song is closing in on 600 million Spotify streams – arguably the band’s most signature song of their career. Consider that the band also played the song twice at a recent show in Argentina, and you have a recipe for a good time.

If you can believe it, they just played a show for over 100k people, and needless to say, they were going wild for one of nu-metal’s biggest bands. In fact, the song is now experiencing a major boost on streaming services and social media in general. There has always been something universal about the feeling of overbearing frustration, when all you want to do is break something instead. 100/10 do recommend.
