Let’s Talk Wrestling : NXT Stand And Deliver 2021 Night 2 (Review)

#1 Contender’s Tag Team Match: Breezango vs. Killian Dain and Drake Maverick

This was a pre-show match that for sure had it comedy moments going for it as Breezango came out as pirates to kick it off. The match itself was decent at best. I personally feel Brezzango ran its course quite some time ago, and Tyler Breeze in particular brings nothing interesting to the table personality wise or in ring anymore. Drake and Killian are odd together as well, Killian stuck in a spot where he doesn’t have much going for him. This match had its moments but was mainly a filler for the pre-show to get going.

NXT Cruiserweight Unification Ladder Match: (c) Santos Escobar vs. (c) Jordan Devlin

For a unification ladder match this one was a little underwhelming. While it did have some good spots throughout it felt somewhat like going through the motions at points. Throw in a bad run in angle that could of been left out too and it just brought the match down some. Both men still put on a solid ladder match however that was worth the watch.

NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship Match: (c) Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon vs. The Way (Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell)

This was a great match to show these ladies potentials. All 4 busted their asses and showed off what they had to offer. My only bad take away is that they used dives a bit too much with some of them nearly missing and botching the move along with some others.

NXT North American Title Match: (c) Johnny Gargano  vs. Bronson Reed

Following Reed’s victory the night before he gained the chance to face Gargano for the belt. The main issue here is that these guys had zero chemistry in ring. Gargano and Reed are drastically different sizes and while that normally isn’t anything bad here they just did not mesh well together. I could of went without the interference of Austin Theory as well, or the numerous botches that occurred.

NXT World Championship Match:  Finn Balor vs. Karrion Kross w/ Scarlett

Easily match of the night. Both of these men fought tooth and nail here giving a great hard hitting back and forth match. It had good story telling and Balor was able to bump around quite well with Kross looking strong and selling when needed. It was a bit long but wrapped up quite nicely.

Unsanctioned Match: Adam Cole vs. Kyle O’Reilly

Starting the match with security between the two looked dumb given that neither side attempted anything so they just filed out of the ring. From a story telling aspect they killed it here, you felt the hatred between the two and how badly each wanted to go after the other. What didn’t work is that this match was way longer than it needed to be. We were given kick outs from big spot moves and big stunt spots that felt unneeded given the story telling of this match being so strong. The other issue is with WWE doing these an Unsanctioned Match, meaning its technically just a no DQ match, but having no blood at all. You have chains, weapons, and big spots happening but neither man appears to take any massive damage from it which throws it off. It was a good match though, just could of used some trimming.
