Kazuki Takahashi, the creator of the Yu-Gi-Oh! series, has passed away at the age of 60

Very sad news to report. Kazuki Takahashi, the creator of the world-famous Yu-Gi-Oh! manga and its subsequent trading card game series, has passed away at the age of 60. Reports are coming in that Takahashi’s body was found off the coast of Okinawa on June 6th. As Anime News Network reported, the Japanese Coast Guard reportedly found Takahashi wearing snorkeling gear, and are investigating the events that led to his tragic passing.

Debuting the manga series in 1996 after a lengthy career as a manga artist who flew under the radar, the launch of the trading card game helped put it right next to Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering in terms of popularity. In fact, the trading card game and manga still run today, and are extremely popular even today.
