“The only constant is change”. It’s a saying that has been around forever. And there’s certain things in life that will always change – your circle of friends, your income, death, birth, and much more. There’s also something else that involves change – and that’s when a new band is formed out of the ashes of something more volatile.
Enter Begin Again, the new project fronted by Ashley Cadwallader (ex. Smalls). The 3 song EP, available for whatever you’d like (cue T.I. reference here), is essentially a throwback to the mid-2000’s, when bands like Paramore, Senses Fail, and The Starting Line were still playing pop-punk/alternative rock music. In fact, upon first listen, the track “i ws nvr yr grlfrnd” immediately reminded me of 2005, when I first heard Paramore’s debut album, All We Know Is Falling. The lyrics and production on the 3-track EP are certainly standouts, as well.
I won’t spoil the EP any further, but it’s a strikingly good debut. Ashley straight up has a gift as a vocalist, to be blunt. Stream it below, and be sure to show the band some support if you like what you hear.
