Scottish mathcore/grind/whatevercore band Frontierer are not a band to mess around. Their 2015 debut album Orange Mathematics set the heavy music world ablaze with imitators in its wake, and the album is currently #5 on ALL OF BANDCAMP on its bestsellers list. While the appeal for a band this dense and innovative may be small compared to other genres of music, it’s clear that they sport a dedicated and unique fanbase, as it’s word-of-mouth that has been instrumental (hah!) in Frontierer’s rapidly climbing fanbase. Also, their PayPal crashed, thanks to the influx of vinyl pre-orders. That should tell you plenty.
Frontierer is nothing without their dense, grind-influenced approach to mathcore, though. Luckily, the band’s first new single in a few years, “Tumoric”, continues where Orange Mathematics left off – with a wall of absolute chaos. Give the new track a spin below -0 their new album, Unloved, drops in late July.
