Front 242 end their historic career with sold out shows at the legendary Metro

By Colette Custin

Belgian industrial pioneers Front 242 put on a mesmerizing, sold-out performance at Metro Chicago for one of their last tour appearances in the United States, presented by Cold Waves.

Rarely will one see the Metro so packed as it was over the weekend, a testament to the band’s legacy and longevity, and their setlist drew from their entire discography, offering something from every era.

Core members Patrick Codenys, Jean-Luc De Meyer, and Richard 23 took the stage looking dapper in dark glasses and seemed to be having just as much fun as the crowd was from start to finish.

Show opener Kontravoid delivered a forty-minute set of dark, brooding synth-pop—a masked, one-man show that had the crowd moving the entire time.
