New thing we’re doing called Friday Playlist. It could be just the thing you’re looking for to discover some new music, some old music, but one thing is clear – it’s all worth listening to. Expand your horizons.
Hands, “Give Me Rest”
I can’t think of too many more powerful songs than this one. One of Facedown Records’ unsung heroes, they (and A Hope For Home) are much different than most of the bands on the roster, with a very Isis-influenced sound. Add a little post-hardcore punch and ambient soundscapes, and you have an idea of what they sound like. Just listen to the song, though.
Worthwhile, “Melody, Save Me”
InVogue Records has a solid ear for talent. Worthwhile’s album Carry On, Kid is a pretty solid record. Fans of It Prevails and Capsize will probably be interested in hearing this.
Blindside, “Eye Of The Storm”
It’s a shame they took so long between full-lengths (almost 5 years) because with “Silence”, “The Great Depression”, and “About A Burning Fire”, post-hardcore band Blindside was on a roll with some great albums that even got radio play. If you missed out or are just new to the band, check out the song “Eye Of The Storm”.
Billy Talent, “Try Honesty”
I’m pretty happy they played Warped Tour earlier this year. Interviewing them was a real treat as well – and their live show didn’t disappoint. This is straight-up catchy punk rock.
The Chariot, “Daggers”
The end of an era, as The Chariot is soon to be wrapping up their final tour. But what a career they’ve had – especially with how great “Long Live” and “One Wing” turned out to be. Chaotic beauty, really.
