Released in 2003, Evanescence’s single “Bring Me To Life” is one of the biggest rock hits of the last 20 years. Arriving at a time where post-grunge was a massive seller, the song was the world’s introduction to the operatic vocals of Amy Lee over a post-grunge/nu-metal tinged sound that would inspire a wave of imitators. To say it’s an enduring song would be an understatement – yet 19 years after its release, the song is now #1 on iTunes.
We’re pretty sure we’ve figured out why the song has had such a resurgence, though. A couple reasons…
One, the band is currently touring with Korn, so that’s probably part of the reason the song is surging right now. The other one, though? On TikTok, there’s a mashup of Stranger Things’ “Chrissy, Wake Up” scene, and the “Bring Me To Life” track. It’s now seeing lots of airplay on TikTok, so that’s likely another reason. Or maybe it’s just a timeless song. All of these things are probably causing the song’s surge up the charts, but whatever it is, we’re here for it.
