Back in the states for just a short 5 run date including a few festival stops Electric Callboy rode the Tekkno Train all the way to the Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom in Chicago for a massive show.
Kicking off the evening was Pennsylvania metalcore outfit If Not For Me. Stating this was their first time in Chicago the band did well as the crowd piled into the venue with fans throughout singing along with them. It really started to kick off though when British metalcore act Bury Tomorrow. Not super often are they in the states so fans showed out for this rare treat as the band blasted through a setlist heavy on their latest record “The Seventh Son”. Sounding exactly like record this was the first time in the evening that mosh pits opened and crowd surfers came flying over the barricade as the band held the crowd in the palm of their hand.
Closing the evening out though was the one and only Electric Callboy. Nearly selling out this massive 5,000 person venue is no easy feat for any band of this genre and ECs popularity seems to be only rising in an upward trend. Kicking off right into Tekkno Train the band fired on all cylinders the entire evening mixing their brand of metalcore with electronic and EDM influences. Only they can go from dance beats into a super heavy breakdown with such ease.
With the costume changes on stage matching the many different outfits in the crowd its clear EC has struck a chord with its fanbase. With children in the front stating it was their first show to fans age 50+ it was a welcoming and eclectic crowd at this legendary venue. The set flowed perfectly blending together heavy, dance songs, singalong covers, and everything in between to give fans time to rest in moderation but never stop moving.
Don’t be shocked if the next time EC are back in the states its at arenas. The band is hitting it on every level and its easy to see why, they’ve got the moves.
