Rock and metal music is having a good time right now. Knocked Loose has over two million monthly listeners on Spotify after their recent headlining tour and album. Not a day goes by where Deftones, Linkin Park, and nu-metal as a whole don’t garner new fans. Sleep Token? Bad Omens? The Plot In You? The list goes on and on.
The same goes for Babymetal + Electric Callboy and Bring Me The Horizon. Somebody, of course, has to replace the arena-level acts in rock and metal when they retire or splinter apart, and these are just a few of the bands doing so. Thanks to the accessibility of streaming services, it’s not a surprise that the new music from the aforementioned bands has gone nuclear, but that they’ve gone entirely viral? That’s just good marketing.
Two songs from BMTH’s new album and the EC // Babymetal collaboration “RATATATA” have made their way into the USA version of the Spotify Viral 50 chart, right alongside a plethora of the biggest musicians in the scene right now.
In the case of “RATATATA”, it’s on pace to become one of the biggest songs Electric Callboy have ever had a hand in. Meanwhile, Bring Me The Horizon’s new album has made them one of the most-streamed rock or metal bands in the world at over 15 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
