Dark Sermon rendered inactive as frontman goes to Prison

For fans of Tampa, Florida metal band Dark Sermon, the band has sadly taken an undetermined hiatus, after releasing two successful records – 2015’s The Oracle helped get the band on numerous North American tours that also buoyed a passionate fanbase in their hometown. For a band that changed their name once and played a hybrid form of black/death metal that was clearly pretty extreme, they accomplished a heck of a lot, whether they play music again or not.

That being said, vocalist Johnny Crowder is clearly not done with music – not even close. His new project, Prison, is a more alt-metal styled project that shows the battle with the inner demons and emotions many people deal with in life. If a prison is a place where you feel trapped, the band’s new song embodies that pretty well. Initial single “The Knife and the Dying Dream” is a solid distillation of the band’s sound, which might remind listeners of Korn, Coal Chamber, and more modern alt-metal like Sylar. The band’s EP, N.G.R.I., drops June 9th. Get ready.
