Dan Searle (Architects) pens passionate letter about the Manchester attacks

It’s certainly on minds of concertgoers worldwide, and especially in the public consciousness, but the attacks that have left 22 dead in Manchester on May 22nd have left the world reeling. Attacks like this have a strong tendency to become politicized immediately, and while discussing politics is not something we do here, it is certainly interesting to see what responses are taken to horrible events like this.

That has not been lost on bands like Architects, who certainly have a unique perspective. The UK metalcore band have never been shy in discussing politics and world events, though they’ve always done so with a certain grace that few bands actually can pull off. The band’s drummer, Dan Searle, recently created a blog entry that you can read below. The best quote of the whole thing? Probably the statement below.

The global dehumanisation and disassociation with one another will only serve to continue this cycle of bloodshed that we fear so terribly. To make matters worse capitalism has wedged itself within the construct of war and built a cosy, and lucrative, home there. But I’m not going to patronise anyone with that discussion, God knows enough of you have found this condescending enough. “Yeah Dan, we’ve all read 1984”. Actually, I haven’t, I’m a fraud.
