Blink-182 may be about to start a 16-date Las Vegas residency at the end of May, but clearly the long-running pop-punk band is not resting on their laurels. The band’s most recent album, 2016’s California, was a resonant success upon release – and while it’s not quite in the league of the band’s classic material, Blink-182 may have a treat for fans of a recent tweet by Mark Hoppus is any indication.
Early days still but the newest blink-182 songs sound like they pick up where Take Off Your Pants and Jacket left off.

We’d be pretty stoked if their new material sounded like the classics. Take Off Your Pants And Jacket, released in 2001, was the midpoint between their more mature self-titled effort, and their earlier, more up-tempo pop-punk sound. Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba has proven himself to be a more than capable replacement for Tom DeLonge, so we’ll be excited to see what some of the new songs sound like.
