There are stupid things, and then there’s this. The Word Alive and Fit For A King are on tour right now, and during tonight’s show in Florida, the local opener for the show, Rainey’s Revenge, reportedly jumped the tour manager. Why? A dispute over a set time and a set that got cut short. Even so, we have no clue why they did this – doing so will get them banned from basically everywhere. Read on for more details.
FFAK vocalist Ryan Kirby confirmed the event in a tweet:
A local band jumped The Word Alive's tour manager because he cut their set short due to them being 10 minutes over. I'll get there name.

The first response from Rainey’s Revenge was really, really bad.
What’s even better is their FB page is filled to the brim with comments roasting the band and their inexcusable actions tonight. Even I Set My Friends On Fire got into the act. The band also managed to upset bassist/singer of FFAK, Ryan O’Leary, who said this: “We promise that we will do everything in our power so that you never play a show again. You jumped our tour manager because YOU went over your set time. Every agent and venue in the area will be informed and you guys are done. Congratulations”.
You know it’s bad when Telle Smith, the vocalist of The Word Alive, really doesn’t like you.
Apparently the band refused to take any sort of responsibility for their actions, especially with the following statement that amounted to both changing their stories and coming across like a very flippant response…
Here’s the thing. The metal and hardcore scenes are generally supportive of each other. Do you know what’s not supported? Violence. You did worse than just assaulting someone, you assaulted a tour manager of a nationally known band, a community who has the power to blacklist you from ever playing anywhere outside a garage again. you can kiss your music career goodbye. In the immortal words of DJ Khaled…
Update: Rainey’s Revenge has pulled all statuses relating to last night’s events from their Facebook page, and a Youtube link has surfaced, which has the band detailing the events that happened. Whether their side of the story is valid or not is anyone’s guess, but deleted Facebook posts and giving flippant responses is doing your band no favors. Even if somehow it was the other band’s TM’s fault, why wouldn’t you hold back your tongue and your fists? If you go over your time, it’s the TM’s job to make sure everything is running smoothly.
For Rainey’s Revenge, had they not assaulted the tour manager and kept their cool, there would have been other shows. But certainly not now.
