Album Review: Counterparts – Tragedy Will Find Us

Counterparts are not new to the hardcore scene by any means. Formed in 2007 this melodic hardcore band have shown that they bring the heat with four studio albums. With the release of “Tragedy Will Find Us” we are given another above par hardcore album. Hear what we think about this record after the jump!

Opening with the track “Stillborn” we are thrown straight into the fire with fast paced drums and raw scream vocals. The opening track features the heavy signature sound that this band possesses and it just continues to show as the album goes on. A standout track called “Resonate” caught my ears with the melodic guitar work it features, the following song “Stranger” is just brutal and fast, the pits will be lighting up when this song is played. The album continues to amaze all the way to the end. The closing track “Solace” showcases a slower instrumental with emotional vocals and lyrics such as these:

“Carry me back to your bed
My conscience is my coffin and I swear sometimes I’d rather be dead
Make sure that I still feel, I don’t care how much it hurts
I’ll always be numb on my side of the earth”

and closes with this goosebumps filled outro:

“I’d rather die than live without you
I’d rather die”

The verdict on this amazing album is this: If you are a fan of Counterparts or the hardcore genre, this is a must have. You will enjoy it all the way through as it does not contain any filler or “boring” songs. Just pure heavy and hard hitting hardcore music. Personally I give this record a four out of five.
