Guns N’ Roses’ iconic video for “November Rain” is the first rock music video to reach 2 billion views on YouTube

The music video for Guns N’ Roses’ 1991 smash hit “November Rain” has officially garnered 2 billion views on YouTube, making the song the first rock or metal song to reach the milestone. It’s even more profound when you realize that the video for the song is over 9 minutes long, so these views definitely were earned.

Only a few handfuls of other rock and metal songs have reached this plateau on YouTube. Linkin Park’s “Numb” and “In The End”, Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, and Evanescence’s “Bring Me To Life” are just a few of the more notable tracks to reach the milestone. There’s obviously plenty more in other genres, of course, but it’s a specifically big milestone any way you slice it.
