Having already toured together in the past as well as both bands occupying very similar (though still stylistically different) sections of the modern rock scenes, Starset + Breaking Benjamin will probably continue to be tied together in the future. It was, of course, Breaking Benjamin that helped Starset raise their profile on some of their earliest tours, while Starset have gained many more fans with every album they release.
Dustin Bates of Starset had a project called Downplay, which in many ways was the forerunner to Starset. Though with some stylistic differences, “Waiting On The Sky To Change” was originally a Downplay song, so Starset brought Breaking Benjamin on board to release a new version of the song, which was also co-written by Breaking Benjamin’s Jasen Rauch. Full circle.
The track almost immediately exploded at rock radio, but now the track has vaulted past Metallica, Disturbed, Blink-182, Bad Omens, and many more to become the #1 track on Active Rock radio now. With the video for the song clocking in at almost 5 million views on YouTube and almost 11 million streams on Spotify alone, it’s clear that fans love when these two bands collaborate in some fashion. Could you imagine an EP or even full-length that involved Starset + Breaking Benjamin in some way? We’d be here for it.
