After their successful debut album Youth in 2013, Citizen have been on my radar for a new release to come out this year. There has been no official statement from either the band or Run For Cover Records, but there has been information floating around the web. The information I found is not a jab at the band in any way, it is only to get people more excited for the official release of their sophomore album.
What we know:
Ambition Records, a UK vinyl distributor and store, seems to have prematurely released their pre-orders for the band’s new album Everybody is Going to Heaven. This is where I found the album artwork and title. Soon after, they removed the link to pre-order the album, but not soon enough for people to see it. The news has been posted on various forums and a quick Google search will result in some more information, like various release dates ranging from June 9th to June 23rd. Below is a picture from one of the forums which includes a short description of the new album.

The information doesn’t contain much, but from this we get information on track names like “My Favorite Color”, “Heaviside”, and “Yellow Love”. It is also said that the album contains ten songs and is produced by none other than Will Yip. The information might not be verified, but it certainly appears to be true as the description most likely came from Ambition Record’s pre-order link.
What we expect:
While the information is scarce, it is enough to get excited for what lies in the next few weeks. For a June release, the band or label will most likely release the album details sooner than later. With that, we can expect a new single as well. I’ve read that they’ve been performing a new track titled “Ten” at their recent concerts, could that be the new single?
The evidence for the new album details seem to have a stronger putting than mere speculation. An album is coming, and it will be released in the coming months. Citizen impressed me with their most recent single “Silo”, which proved to be the most mature material they’ve released yet. With only high hopes for the future of this band, I can’t wait to see what comes to light in a week or two. The only thing left to do is wait and see.
