Counterparts prove they’re one of metalcore’s most consistent bands on ‘A Eulogy For Those Still Here’ – stream

Counterparts are one of a handful of melodic hardcore/metalcore/what have you bands that display a keen sense of emotional resonance on each album they release. It’s difficult to find even a bad song by the band – they’re just that consistently good at what they do. Depending on who you ask, you’ll likely find a different favorite album that likely had a huge impact on their life at the time. Yes, even The Current Will Carry Us.

Almost every band claims that their latest material is what they feel is their best, but on A Eulogy For Those Still Here, the band plays like they fucking mean it. You know what you’re getting – 11 songs in a 33 minute runtime – but that doesn’t make the subject matter any less emotional. Whether it’s the tribute to vocalist Brendan Murphy’s cat Kuma on “Whispers Of Your Death” or the explosive blast of “Unwavering Vow”, it’s ridiculously impressive how Counterparts keep on churning out top-quality material. You can hear it for yourself below.
