Iconic vocalist Riley Gale may have passed away a couple years ago, but for the members of Texas crossover thrash band Power Trip, there’s still more to write in their story. Having released two of modern thrash’s greatest full-lengths with Manifest Decimation and 2017 breakout album Nightmare Logic, Riley Gale was no doubt a beloved frontman whose charisma and passion for his craft inspired other vocalists to take up the mantle as well.
Gale’s passing has left the members of Power Trip mostly silent or working on other projects at this time, but Power Trip’s Blake Ibanez has given the band’s loyal fanbase an update on the future of the band.
In a new interview with Banger TV (which you can watch below), Power Trip guitarist Blake Ibanez issued multiple updates on the band and possible new material + being an active band again, helpfully transcribed by The PRP.
Discussing both an upcoming side project as well as future Power Trip material, Ibanez was both cryptic and hopeful when it comes to what any future Power Trip iteration will look like, saying:
“Got a lot of music, a lot of songs in the tank. So keep your eyes peeled for what that becomes. I think everybody here, especially that enjoyed “Nightmare Logic” will really like it. Next thing. Spent a lot of time working on it the last few years. People that like all the Power Trip stuff, then they’ll be excited for what’s coming… I can’t say what it is or exactly what it isn’t gonna be. But the plan right now is for it to continue. So that’s all I can really say right now.”
Whatever Power Trip decides to do, we’ll be waiting for it. As we mentioned before, the band really is one of the most exciting crossover thrash acts to emerge in the last decade or so, and whatever future direction they take will undoubtedly be a good one.
