Frontierer hit even harder with new chaotic mathcore opus, ‘Oxidized’ – stream it here

With members based across Scotland and the USA, mathcore band Frontierer certainly don’t lack ambition or focus. Their first two full-lengths, 2016’s Orange Mathematics and 2018’s Unloved, were both albums that bordered on the extreme of what heavy music can be. And thankfully, despite cramming 30 tracks into both albums combined, the band keeps things fairly succinct, with most of the band’s songs not reaching the 5 minute mark.

Oxidized, the band’s third full-length to date, revels in more chaos than seemingly ever. However, their newer electronic and ambient influences work in their favor, and Frontierer are at their best when they continue to engage and pulverize the listener with seemingly impossible tempos and time signatures. Oxidized is intense, heavy, and interesting mathcore that manages to never really get stale, thanks to a diverse array of influences distillated through the lens of extreme mathcore and some very talented musicians.
