While we know the band is working on a new record right now, Florida metalcore band Wage War have decided to (wisely) revisit the Blueprints era with a new single, “Surrounded”. Why does it sound like something off their debut album, though? Because “Surrounded” is actually a never before released B-side from the album, that’s why.
Of course, that’s not really a surprise that the Ocala band would release something like this now. While not necessarily being a bad record, 2019’s Pressure was met with much division from the band’s established fanbase, so it’s safe to say the band’s new material has a good chance of reflecting their past material, while also pursuing new avenues of expression.
The band had this to say about the new song: “To celebrate the five-year anniversary of its release, we’re excited to put out an unreleased track from our debut album ‘Blueprints’. ‘Surrounded’ is a song that easily could have made the record, but never found its place. Over the last five years we’ve grown as musicians and individuals. The release of ‘Surrounded’ has been a great time to reflect on where our careers started and a chance for some perspective.”
