With the one-year anniversary of Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington recently passing, it’s a reminder that the world lost a beloved musical icon. Chester won’t soon be forgotten, though. His one of a kind voice left an impact on anyone who would listen, and Mike Shinoda is carrying on his memory in the best of ways – by never forgetting his friend when he plays a solo show.
Having recently announced a US leg of the Post Traumatic tour, Mike Shinoda, who’s in Asia right now, took to the stage to celebrate his friend. Shinoda had this to say about Chester:
“I don’t even know if I knew, like, as we were in a band together, I didn’t recognize… like I just thought my friend was a fucking awesome singer. He was like literally one of the best EVER. That’s CRAZY. And it’s absolutely fucking true.”
He’s not wrong. Chester was truly one of a kind – his vocal range alone was impressive, but so too was his humor and charisma, something all vocalists should aspire to have.
Mike talking about Chester tonight:
