8 years is a long time to survive in the music industry, especially given the less than stellar financial climate musicians tend to live in. Even bands like I The Mighty aren’t exactly making the money you think they are, but there is good news – it’s not affected their creative output at all. They’ve gone from supporting bands like Dance Gavin Dance and Coheed and Cambria to headlining their own tours – much like the one they recently finished up with Dayshell, Artifex Pereo, and Picturesque in tow. And with high marks for 2015’s career-defining album Connector, success is coming easily for the hard-working band these days.
I recently caught up with vocalist/guitarist Brent Walsh over the phone to discuss plans for new material, the journey they’ve been on, and some of the biggest misconceptions people have about musicians. Check out the full audio conversation after the jump.
