If you missed our segment on 50 of the best albums of 2014 (so far), you can find it here.
I’ll be honest, I hadn’t listened to any of Silver Snakes’ music until late in 2013 – but their name has been rolling around in my head for quite a while – maybe it’s my obsession with the 90’s Nickelodeon game show Legends of the Hidden Temple. I regret not listening to them sooner – it’s hard to quantify their sound on 2014’s god-tier album Year of the Snake, but the band effectively straddles the line between post-hardcore, 90’s alt-rock, and a dash of post-metal for good measure.
I recently did an interview with Alex Estrada (vocals, guitar) of Silver Snakes while they were on tour in Tampa with The Ocean Collective, Scale the Summit, and The Atlas Moth. If Silver Snakes comes to your city this year, you need to check them out for sure. In the interview, you can witness me trying not to lose my cool when a homeless man interrupts Alex and I. Welcome to Ybor City. Also included is the band’s new video for “Grey Wolf Wild”.
