“5 Albums That Changed My Life” With Dave Tipple (Bobaflex)

Bobaflex2015NEW

On the 25 years I’ve been on Earth, I’d say I’ve had Bobaflex in my life for almost half of that. It’s really interesting, at least to me, just how long they’ve been in the game. After years of rising through the ranks, they’ve been an independent band recently – usually releasing an album every 2 years, and touring hard on each album cycle. Their most recent album, Anything That Moves, is yet another solid album to add to their catalogue.

Even better, we brought Dave Tipple (guitars, vocals) of Bobaflex to briefly discuss 5 albums that have had a profound impact on his life. Check out his choices after the jump, and be sure to check out their newest album as well (you can find a music video below for the single “Mama (Don’t Take My Drugs Away)”)

Dave Tipple is the lead guitarist / backing vocalist for BOBAFLEX. They are supporting their new album ANYTHING THAT MOVES released on July 17th, 2015 with non stop touring. More info on the band at www.theofficialbobaflex.com.

“5 Albums That Changed My Life” by Dave Tipple

1: AC/DC (Highway to Hell)

I was raised in a family where church and God was the center of everything. So, when I first heard this album I felt like I just increased my chances of going to Hell! Songs about hell, women, and drugs really turned me on almost sexually. This album was like the forbidden fruit of rock n roll. I fuckin’ love this album.

2: Aerosmith (Nine Lives)

I would say this is the loudest and heaviest album Aerosmith have ever put out. Nine Lives opens up with screeching cats and Steven Tyler screaming his little ass off and ends with this beautiful, almost country but mostly rock ballad A-smith are known for. This album has stuck with me for many years, and it still kicks my ass when I listen to it now.

3: Megadeth (Countdown to Extinction)

I was in the thick of learning guitar and guitar solos when I first got my hands on this album. Dave Mustaine and Marty Friedman changed the way I thought about guitar. Tons of vocal and guitar melody, crazy solos, what else do you expect from megadeth? They never disappoint.

4: Tom Petty (Wildflowers)

This album got me really into acoustic driven rock songs. Plenty of electric going on with a taste of acoustic tones really works well. Songs about heartache, girls, and smokin’ weed… Love it. Great road trip music! I saw Petty back in the early 2000’s and it was the best smelling concert I have ever been to.

5: Tenacious D (Tenacious D)

Tenacious D’s self titled first album made me fall in love with vocal harmonies. These guys can rock an acoustic guitar and sing harder than any act out there. And they love satan!! They have songs about how they wrote the greatest and best song in the world!! How cool is that?! This album got me into singing and harmonizing which is something I didn’t know I could do till I was like 21 years old.
