Last we checked on Arizona’s Holy Fawn, the shoegaze/post-black metal/what have you outfit had signed with Triple Crown Records, re-issued their debut album Death Spells, and are gaining the attention of bands like Thrice (they’re the opening band on Thrice’s upcoming Vheissu tour). Clearly, the hard work Holy Fawn have put in speaks volumes, but so too does the band’s uncompromising (and stellar!) vision.
Luckily for us, Holy Fawn have released a 3-track EP, The Black Moon, with no real lead-in time. The band’s first new release for Triple Crown Records, it’s a short but sweet batch of new material that will bring in new fans, while also not alienating old ones. In short, it’s really good – and the nearly 7 minute long “Blood Pact” just might be the band’s most interesting song to date. If you like your post-metal dark yet hopeful, Holy Fawn is the right band for you.
