Xerophthalmia release their crushing new EP, and it’s one for the books.

Oklahoma deathcore band Xerophthalmia has unleashed their crushing new EP “Writhe” onto the world. The deathcore group released their first EP “Forlorn//Hope” in 2019.  Xerophthalmia takes everything they did in their debut release and injected it with steroids for their new EP. Writhe is a heavy collection of tracks that round up to a twenty-three minute runtime. Xerophthalmia shows a bit more versatility in “Writhe” when compared to their earlier release. Xerophthalmia uses percussion to emphasize sections more than I’ve seen other do it in recent memory. The blast beats executed throughout the EP are impressive, and impacting. The guitarwork shows a more flexible style when compared to the band’s first release. As always, the vocals are that taken straight from the depths of the abyss. The overall band shows true dynamic for each other, and with this record it’s clear they’re getting more comfortable with their dynamic. Xerophthalmia is evolving to be one dynamic and cunning deathcore group. Hear for yourself.
