WWE Smackdown – Episode 1168 (01.07.2022) (Wrestling Review)

WWE

Smackdown

Uncasville, Connecticut

Jan. 7th, 2022

Singles Match
Sami Zayn vs. Rick Boogs (w/Shinsuke Nakamura)

A pretty short match. Zayn is number one contender for the IC belt but loses to Boogs. Boogs at least got to show off his strength here. The match itself was nothing special. Having Johnny Knoxville come out post match to toss Sami over the ropes and get entered into the Rumble was fun.

WWE SmackDown Women’s Title Contender’s Match
Naomi vs. Charlotte Flair

A somewhat sloppy match that kept getting stopped due to rule changes. Both workers are good and showed it here but the pacing kept dying because of things. It went a little long too so by the end the crowd wasn’t really that into it anymore..

Tag Team Match
Happy Corbin & Madcap Moss vs. The Viking Raiders (Erik & Ivar)

Similar tactic to something we also saw on Raw this week. Average match at best. Viking Raiders have great tag chemistry and moves and yet lose to a team that’ll end up doing nothing long term.

WWE SmackDown Tag Team Title Street Fight
The Usos (Jey Uso & Jimmy Uso) (c) vs. The New Day (King Woods & Kofi Kingston)

God this feud needs to die. Its just become so tiresome. Both teams are good and can put on good matches but its just run its course far past due. This match was fine, extremely bland and not really exciting compared to other matches they’ve had but that’s to be expected by now.
