Royal Rumble
St. Louis, Missouri
Jan. 29th, 2022
A fantastic opener for the card. Had some great story telling in ring and kept the action going fast. The ending makes a lot of sense and protects both men and builds to continue the feud. Rollins has made this feud feel so important and this match continued to show it.

The womens rumble isn’t always the best thing to see. While this years had less overall botches it did have so much more noticeable downtime and wrestlers standing around smiling or laughing. The surprise entrants were cool, the legends were fun and some looked better in ring than others, and Ronda was fine but you knew she wasn’t losing once she entered. It was okay but could have used some cleaning up.

I’m still unsure why Doudrop was getting this push here. The match felt like it went on for too long and no one expected Becky to lose. Had some okay spots but outside of that it was pointless and a bad follow up to the rumble. The crowd didn’t seem to care for it either unless the final moments of it.

Really a mixed match. This was such a hard match to plan because you really can’t have anyone here lose clean or look too weak. The match was okay mostly, Lesner dominating a lot of it. The Roman run in was half expected since they clearly want Roman vs Lesner again. If anything this just made Lashley look awful as champ again.

Thank god this story has ended. The match was fine, honestly pretty boring and lifeless to me. Edge could be doing better but everyone here was fine. Edge and Beth worked together well but the match didn’t seem to really follow rules as it went on.

Honestly a very lackluster mens rumble. Bad Bunny gets the MVP award as he is way better in ring than he should be. Having Shane was a fun quick moment. Other than that it was pretty lackluster with a few good spots here and there. Lesner being 30 and winning was expected from the start so it is what it is.
