WWE NXT Vengeance Day 2023 (Wrestling Review)

WWE NXT

Vengeance Day

Charlotte, North Carolina

Feb. 4th, 2023

WWE NXT North American Title Match
Wes Lee (c) vs. Dijak

A really good opening match here. Lee winning here helps a lot while Dijak did enough to look good and not have a loss affect him much. Dijak breaking his finger though was rough.

3.75 / 5

WWE NXT Women’s Tag Team Title Match
Katana Chance & Kayden Carter (c) vs. Fallon Henley & Kiana James (w/Brooks Jensen & Josh Briggs)

A solid match that just never felt important. The NXT womens tag division isn’t great and there wasn’t much going into this. Some good team moves and rather lackluster finish made this watchable but nothing amazing.

2.75 / 5

Best Two Out Of Three Falls Match
Apollo Crews vs. Carmelo Hayes (w/Trick Williams)

Hayes comes off here looking like a star and should be the #1 contender in NXT now. This match though just didn’t do much for me. I never felt like it was truly captivating or that there was drama in ring for this 2 out of 3 and that it often felt like taking time to do stuff without anything too interesting happening.

2 / 5

WWE NXT Tag Team Title Fatal Four Way Match
The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) (c) vs. Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince & Kit Wilson) vs. Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) vs. Chase U (Andre Chase & Duke Hudson) (w/Thea Hail)

A fun match that kept the action going. Could have went two different ways here while the other two teams were solid additions but clearly weren’t taking the titles. New Day losing the belts doesn’t hurt them at all really so that’s fine too.

3 / 5

WWE NXT Women’s Title Triple Threat Match
Roxanne Perez (c) vs. Gigi Dolin vs. Jacy Jayne

A fine match but they used the same formula as always. Toxic Attraction works together then fights each other while Rox took the win. It had its moments but was nothing great. Seemingly the end of Toxic though.

2.75 / 5

WWE NXT Title Steel Cage Match
Bron Breakker (c) vs. Grayson Waller

A very lackluster main event. A cage match that never felt special or epic at any time. Waller is fine but he wasn’t taking the belt and didn’t do much special here.
