You know that feeling when you discover a new band and immediately are captivated by both the actual song, and the potential that band obviously possesses? The past 10 years or so, I’ve been fortunate enough to hear a few dozen of these instances occur. The most recent ones were Pvris’s single “My House” and Bad Omens’ debut “The Worst In Me”. Especially in Pvris’s case, they’re easily headlining their own tours now, and whenever their next album is released, you can bet it’ll chart somewhere in the Billboard charts.
I honestly feel this is the case with new InVogue Records signees Mirror Eyes. They hit all the right notes on their single “Hold Your Breath” and in general – a strong, versatile vocalist in Jess Coppens, a dynamic rhythm section that does far more than just tread water, and a label that’s struck gold with recent signees like In Her Own Words, Normandie and Being As An Ocean (not on the label anymore and obviously not a recent signee – but they were very successful for the label). In other words, the future is bright, the band is marketable, and the music is very good.
The band recently put together a playlist full of their favorite tunes, which you can check out below. It’s filled with bands as diverse as Silverstein, The 1975, and Bon Iver, so it’s definitely something you’ll want to check out – and it hints at the diverse sound the band has to offer, too.
