Metalcore fans across Indiana gathered in full force on a Tuesday night to be a part of the first stop on We Came As Romans Darkbloom II tour. With an opening lineup consisting of Archetypes Collide, Bodysnatcher, and the return of Emmure from hiatus the night was full of endless energy.
Shortly before Archetypes Collide took the stage, the night began with a moment I’ve never witnessed from Old National Center in which a security guard gathered fans closer to the stage to announce that crowdsurfing and moshing were allowed, and even proceeded to teach the crowd the safest way to surf with arms and legs crossed. With an open invitation from security, there was no hesitation once Archetypes Collide began from the crowd to get things going.
The lineup created the perfect metalcore sandwich with the “lighter” acts as the bread and the heavy in between as Bodysnatcher followed by Emmure took the stage before We Came as Romans. Both bands brought nonstop moshpits to the crowd that had them perfectly warmed up for We Came as Romans.
Fans were itching to see We Came as Romans and a flood of screams broke out when the lights finally dimmed and the opening tracks boomed into Darkbloom. Their setlist heavily consisted of songs from their newest release Darkbloom, but perfectly intertwined older fan favorites such as To Plant a Seed off their 2009 release alongside Tracing Back Roots and more hits from Cold Like War. At many points through the night you could catch glimpses of We Came As Romans members with giant grins on their faces, as they soaked all the love that outpoured from Indianapolis in. Alas the night came to an end with Black Hole as Indianapolis set the bar high for the tour and wished the bands farewell.
