Vatican’s new album Ultra might be the shortest 14 song album you’ll hear all year long. Most of the album’s tracks clock under the 3-minute mark, but the band’s metalcore/nu-metal/hardcore/industrial (and more, probably) combination manages to be engaging and exciting. There’s even nice touches of melodic moments that hint at something more accessible, like on tracks like “By Your Love” and “Did You Ever Notice I Was Gone?”.
It’s all very exciting, really. The album, which is out now, is still full of the same kind of aggression and heaviness that their previous material was full of (especially Sole Impulse, which still rips). Listen to Ultra and thank us for this gift later. Actually, go thank them, we’re just the messengers.
