It is always fun to be contacted by a band and you give them a listen and they turn out to be one of your new favorite bands. This is exactly what happened with The Grave Slaves.

I have been promoting these guys for quite some time now and I get more and more impressed by the music they produce. The released their latest album “Roam Of The Dead” towards the end of 2012 and it ended up on one of my favorite releases of the year. Not only because of the awesome artwork (which is the picture at the beginning of this article) but the music is just purely amazing!! Contact the band and ask them where you can get a copy of this album, or if you get a chance, see them live and buy it directly from them.

If you are trying to figure out where you have heard their name before, they are the winners of our very first unsigned band contest. This shows just how dedicated their fans our. They have less than 900 likes on Facebook, yet beat out bands that have over 5000 likes. I am going to include the bio that these guys sent me word for word because I can not express how awesome the bio is through my own words:

Late ’05 Jaysin Graves and lead guitarist Daryl Mitchell started jamming. They then decided to dig up a couple more bodies from the local cemetery to create a band, Dan Labbeto on drums and Dez Kedaver on upright bass. This lineup lasted a couple years until Dez moved to AZ, and Jaysin retreated back to his coffin. In’ 08 Jaysin rose from his grave and decided to revive the band. He found a lone zombie wondering the cemetery dragging a shovel, and recruited him for upright bass and shovel bass. He later named this zombie Sideshow. After having Sideshow dig up several graves to find the right mix of players, the current lineup came to be: Jaysin Graves on howls and rhythm guitar, Sideshow on upright bass and shovel bass, Blood Sweat Brett on lead guitar, and Johnny Nails on drums, also our honorary undead member Tony G with his trusty harp.

I’m hoping these guys are able to really get their name out there because they deserve to have their music heard and hopefully they can make it to Florida for the first annual Rise Above Fest. Check them out and if you like what you hear, support the hell out of them.
