Does an open-world Star Wars game sound good to you? If not, it really should – given the success of similar large-scale and ambitious games like KOTOR and 2003’s Star Wars Galaxies, it would make sense for this to happen. Well, it does indeed look like we’ll be getting an open world Star Wars game after all.
The news was confirmed by Wired, who noted that this is “the first time that a company outside of EA has produced a Star Wars game since Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012, ending nearly eight years of exclusivity.” Julian Gerighty – director of The Division 2 – will be behind the helm as this game’s creative director. However, there’s no word on what, as of yet, universe this Star Wars game will be set in.
Details are pretty scarce outside of the fact that we know it’s happening, of course. This news also comes alongside the news that there’s a new Indiana Jones game in development. And as Collider Extras notes in the video below, there’s even job listings for the upcoming game. It’s certainly a great time to be a Star Wars fan right now.
