Turnstile, Kendrick Lamar, Ghost, Machine Gun Kelly, Arctic Monkeys, + more nominated for 2023 Grammy Awards

The 2023 Grammy nominations are in, and despite the fact that so many like to say they don’t care about them (okay, valid, but hey), the fact is that any musician nominated for one has to be doing something right. Even when they don’t get the rock and metal categories quite right, they’ve done better in recent years – bands like Code Orange (twice!), Periphery, and August Burns Red have all been nominated before.

Anyway, rock and metal have been solidly represented this year. Turnstile received three nominations for their songs “Holiday” and “Blackout” as the band recently reached a staggering one million monthly listeners on Spotify. That is absolutely insane. Machine Gun Kelly, Ghost, Megadeth, Arctic Monkeys, Ozzy Osbourne, and Muse are some of the other notable names on the rock + metal dockets. On the hip-hop side of things, Kendrick Lamar was nominated for eight (!!!) different Grammy awards in various categories, and it won’t be a surprise to see him win many of those. You know who the Grammys absolutely shafted, though? Denzel Curry. His new album Melt My Eyez See Your Future is a masterclass in modern hip-hop. Enough said.
