TNF Presents: Stuff We’re Listening To, Volume 1 (featuring 6LACK, Thrice, Vennart, and more)

Want to know what we’re listening to lately? We’d hope so! In the hopes of bringing more records, singles, and musicians to your attention, we’re going to bring you a weekly (close, anyway) list of the hottest singles and albums we’re bumping periodically. With new releases from R&B upstart 6LACK, a new record from post-hardcore veterans Thrice, Emma Ruth Rundle’s new full-length, and lots more, there’s plenty to sink your teeth into. We might even highlight some past albums, too. Check out the whole list below!

6LACK (East Atlanta Love Letter)

6LACK’s new album dropped last week. The sophomore record is a fresh mix of trap, R&B, and hip-hop – so if you really like the first Bryson Tiller record or even The Dream, you’ll dig this. The title track (featuring Future) and “Sorry” are worth the admission alone.

Emma Ruth Rundle (On Dark Horses)

Emma Ruth Rundle is a national treasure. That is all.

Makari (Hyperreal)

Florida ambient rock/post-hardcore that delivers with both aplomb and nuance. Hyperreal is the real deal.

Skyharbor (Sunshine Dust)

Progressive metal band Skyharbor trades a bit of technicality for more accessibility on Sunshine Dust, but that doesn’t make the band’s 3rd record any less effective than previous work. New vocalist Eric Emery is a solid addition to the band, too.

Fit For A King (Dark Skies)

Dark Skies, Fit For A King’s 5th full-length record, is easily the band’s most accomplished work to date. Top-tier metalcore that shows strong melodic death metal influence in parts (“The Price Of Agony”) and a strong synergy between melodic and heavy passages shows that Fit For A King keep improving.

The Devil Wears Prada (8.18)

One of the best TDWP albums turns 5 years old today, so if you’ve never given 8.18 a spin, it’s certainly worth 43 minutes of your time. Tracks like “Care More” really show the band’s maturity, and are a stylistic progression from Dead Throne, too.

Michael Barr (Revenge)

More catchy trap/pop/R&B from ex-Volumes vocalist Michael Barr. He’s going to be a star.

Thrice (Palms)

Thrice’s new record is the band’s first since 2016, and Palms is likely to see them infiltrate the mainstream even more. This isn’t a bad thing at all, considering this is a band that’s existed for 20 years. Deserved.

Vennart (To Cure A Blizzard Upon A Plastic Sea)

The solo project of Mike Vennart from Oceansize, the new Vennart record covers similar territory as that long-running band. Psychedelic alt-rock with heavy pop vibes and even some post-rock thrown in for good measure, “Binary” is a standout track that we highly recommend.

Owane (Yeah Whatever)

Enjoyable instrumental rock goodness in the vein of Chon, Polyphia, and David Maxim Micic.

nothing,nowhere. (Reaper)

Mint.

Electric Wizard (Dopethrone)

18 years after its release, Dopethrone is still one of the most essential stoner/doom metal records ever recorded.

Many Rooms (There Is A Presence Here)

Many Rooms is Brianna Hunt. Do you like ambient folk music? Do you also love great songwriting built by a wonderful voice? Many Rooms’ debut full-length is for you.
