After unveiling a countdown timer that was set to go off at 1415 EST, Linkin Park have apparently trolled their fans and mastered numerology and big bang theology, probably.
The countdown then became a stopwatch, where the band changed course and revealed what amounts to basically nothing. “It’s only a matter of time” could mean just about anything, but two ideas that the band’s fan base are aiming towards include references to their albums Minutes To Midnight and the post-apocalyptic themes found on A Thousand Suns.
It’s quite possible that whatever the announcement is has literally nothing to do with either of these possibilities, but the ideas being laid out by fans on social media are nearly endless. Some fans aren’t happy after waiting all around the globe for the announcement, but there’s some clear trolling going on here as Mike Shinoda has popped into multiple social media outlets and live chats with an emoji.
Only time will tell as to what this announcement actually is, but we’ll keep you posted.
