It seems TikTok users are discovering (or rediscovering) Pierce The Veil + Kellin Quinn’s “King For A Day”. By far the band’s most well-known song to date at over 200 million streams on Spotify alone, the band hasn’t actually released an album in six years. That apparently hasn’t stopped their new momentum, though, as the band’s first tour in many years with I Prevail is highly anticipated.
Thanks to Ryan Downey’s Stream N’ Destroy newsletter, though, we know the song is gaining a renewed lease on life. In fact a week ago, the song landed into Spotify’s Viral 50 chart once again.
There is a very good argument to be made that right now—this exact week—@PiercetheVeil is the biggest band in the US despite having not released music for over half a decade.
Their 2012 hit "King For A Day" has dethroned Metallica to top the Hard rock songs chart. Thanks, TikTok pic.twitter.com/KWaZ6xLi8q

The song has even made its way into the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart, dethroning the likes of Metallica’s “Master Of Puppets”, just to name one example. How did it all happen, though? Well, apparently it’s one of the newest viral sensations on TikTok – which, as you know from previous songs from The Plot In You and Bring Me The Horizon, can pretty easily translate into streaming and album sales success.
@juliancomeau king (of overthinking) for a day
To be fair, the song was already very popular before the recent TikTok explosion. Featuring Sleeping With Sirens vocalist Kellin Quinn, “King For A Day” has been out for a decade now, which is pretty shocking – but then again, both bands were at nearly the peak of their popularity around this time, so the collaboration made a lot of sense. It still does.
