Metal titans Thy Art Is Murder have been writing their song topics based off modern dystopia for quite some time now, and that trend continues in their new song “Killing Season”. The Australian legends have unveiled a song they claimed that was completed in November 2019 for later use this year. Well, apparently that time has come! Thy Art Is Murder revealed their new song “Killing Season” as a thank you to their fans.
Thy Art Is Murder tackles the very hot topic of the dark history of Native American genocide. Moreso they tackle the dark history behind Thanksgiving, which runs much deeper than history has often taught us. And it’s certainly interesting to hear an Australian band write a song about a predominantly American holiday, as well.
Guitarist Andy Marsh explains: “‘Killing Season’ is a crushing old school sounding THY ART track that we put together towards the end of 2019, to be used somewhere in 2020 for a release or tour promo. We wanted to release it now as a gift to our fans who have supported us throughout this year by continuing to listen to our music, buying merch, or simply sending us messages of support. It means the world to us! ‘Killing Season’ touches on the darkness surrounding the origins of Thanksgiving, and while that subject is relevant at this time of year, we want you to think of the atrocities both past and present that deserve acknowledgment.”
