Sometimes you’ll hear albums that aren’t the most technically proficient material ever, but still affect you in a deeply emotional way. I can tell you that Break The Cycle is one of those albums.
Having grown up in a loving but frustrating home, there’s no way I couldn’t relate to tracks like “For You”, or the emotional outpouring of “Epiphany”. The album opener “Open Your Eyes” accurately portrays the broken people in cities that you might encounter, while massive radio hit “It’s Been Awhile” covers the familiar lyrical territory of self-doubt and questioning your existence.
Break The Cycle was a massive seller for Staind – and it’s one of their most quality albums, too.
If you’ve never listened to the album before, listen to it here. Hard to believe it’s aged so well.
