When you think of artists who would be natural bedfellows with Metallica, the hugely popular ’80s group Huey Lewis and the News may not be the first to come to mind. But thanks to YouTube mashup creator Bill McClintock, this unlikely pairing has come to life to create a gloriously funky supergroup.
The hilariously named “James Hetfield and the News” combines Metallica’s iconic “Enter Sandman” with Huey Lewis’ pop-rock classic “Hip to Be Square”, and the results have to be heard to be believed. McClintock’s sublime mashup also throws in interpolations of classic Megadeth and Judas Priest tracks, to add an even greater dose of metal for good measure. Check it out below.
