There’s never been a better time to be a fan of experimental-leaning metal, and music in general. While plenty of bands unfortunately fall through the cracks due to a glut of choices available, there’s also more variety than you can shake a stick at. What a time to be alive, really.
Given the breakthrough success of their 5th full-length, 2018’s Time Will Die And Love Will Bury It, you could be forgiven if you thought the fire that drives Rolo Tomassi was one of a newer band. No, this experimental metal band from the UK have been at this game a long, long time – just over a decade now. And while they’ve managed to get better and evolve with each new record, their 2008 debut Hysterics spurred Rolo Tomassi’s career with interesting, engaging experimental post-hardcore. Worth more than a cursory listen to be sure, that’s how great this record is. Do you love turbulence? Hysterics might be your new favorite record.
